The Soviet Pen Pal - My Soviet Pen Pal (2011), Zsigmond Gábor Papp In January 1980, I was in the 7th grade when I received a Soviet pen pal. Our Russian teacher handed out an envelope with Cyrillic letters to everyone, saying that she will be your pen pal from now on. I was lucky because she was a girl and from Moscow. And now I'm traveling to Moscow because I've decided to find and make a film about who had what kind of childhood under socialism.
