Brother Stjepan Brčina was born on February 14, 1981 as the youngest of nine children in Drijenča in the Vrhbosan archdiocese. After finishing high school and completing his military service in 2003, he went to live in Croatia, in Pula (Istria). As a young man he was very active in the church. He was a minister, a member of the parish pastoral council...everything one could be as a lay believer. In Pula, he met other young people, and together with the young people founded a school of new evangelization. They led various spiritual exercises, courses that lasted three days each, work with Chrismians, various animations in parishes... Then his spiritual vocation was born. In Pula, he met the Franciscan Conventuals. In 2006, he entered the monastery of this order. He began his novitiate in 2007 on Cres, and took his first religious vows on September 7, 2008. After the novitiate, he studied at the Catholic Faculty of Theology (KBF) in Zagreb, where he completed two years of philosophy. After that, he was sent to Rome to finish his studies. He made lifelong (eternal) vows on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, October 4, 2011. He was ordained a deacon by Cardinal Josip Bozanić in the Zagreb Cathedral on October 25, 2014. He studied to become an educator and Franciscan spirituality. He has been involved in evangelization since before. In Rome, together with other students, he founded the evangelization community Sveglia Francescana (Franciscan wake-up call), which was created precisely at the instigation of the Pope's words, for monks to go out and witness on the streets. In a year of consecrated life, he was ordained a priest by Pope Francis in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on April 26, 2015. Today, he is in the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Zagreb, Prov. commissioner for the promotion of the profession. In the Church of St. Anthony of Padua on Sveti Duhu, he started Spiritually humorous evenings for young people on Thursdays. He initiated street evangelization in Croatia and founded the Evangelization Community - Maksimilijan Kolbe. It brings Jesus to the fringes of society. Together with the young people, he organized the "Anthony Youth Walk" in Zagreb and evangelization on Ban Jelačić Square, wanting to bring St. Anthony of Padua closer to young people and witness the experience and joy of our faith. #fraStjepanBrčina #sermon #testimony
