A person first gets to know himself by getting to know his parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family, his family name which in turn will determine which social class they belong to, the area they live in and who they live next to, then he gets to know his homeland and the country he was born and lived in and to whom does this country belong? To which map? Then his circle of knowledge changes to the religion his ancestors followed and reached. What are the ideas, customs, and traditions that he must believe in? What are the questions that he is forbidden to reveal from the basics of the identity that a person possesses immediately after birth. But what if his parents were not the ones who raised and embraced him? To whom does he belong? To the identity of those who raised him or the identity of those who embraced him? How will he introduce himself to himself and thus to others? And which identity is more deserving of belonging? The identity he acquired through upbringing and education? Or the one that pertains to the biological origin that he may not yet know and will seek to search for! All these questions that revolve in the mind of the adopted child and make him in a vortex of searching for himself and his identity, which often causes him a psychological crisis that few adopted children have escaped. Sheikha Bint Ibrahim, who went through the experience of getting to know herself in all its details, answers them and tells the story of her success in overcoming the pain of identity and belonging and her leadership of an issue that society fears to talk about. Sheikha Bint Ibrahim introduced us to herself and her issue in a smooth and interesting conversation in this episode of the Al-Basat Ahmadi podcast.
