The Star Wars series The Acolyte was developed for Disney+ by Leslye Headland, co-creator of the Netflix series Matrjoschka. The plot takes place in the last days of the High Republic era and follows a Jedi who teams up with his former student to solve a series of crimes. We are in the era of the High Republic. The Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at the height of their power. When Jedi Master Sol (Jung-Jae Lee) investigates a series of mysterious crimes, he must team up with his former Padawan Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to find out who is targeting and murdering Jedi. They soon come across dark secrets and dark forces that are beginning to rise. Background & information about Star Wars: The Acolyte The Acolyte is the sixth live-action series in the Star Wars franchise after The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Andor and Star Wars: Ahsoka. The plot of The Acolyte is set at the end of the High Republic and thus takes place approximately 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. The Star Wars series was developed by Leslye Headland, who also directed the pilot episode. Further episodes of the first season were directed by directors Kogonada, Alex Garcia Lopez and Hanelle M. Culpepper. Filming for The Aclolyte began in October 2022 at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire, England and lasted until June 2023. Other filming locations included Portugal and Wales. The series premiered in the USA on June 4, 2024 and in Germany on June 5, 2024 on Disney+.
