※ This video is part of <Korean Travelogue - Winter in the Wilderness Part 2: First Winter in a Mountain Hermitage> broadcast on January 18, 2022. Seojinam is a small hermitage located at the foot of the cliffs of Seoryongsan Mountain in Namwon. It is an affiliated hermitage of Silsangsa Temple and a long-standing Zen retreat for monks. Monk Deoksan came to the mountain hermitage in October of last year. He was captivated by the scenery of Jirisan Mountain and the abundant sunlight that spread out before his eyes and decided to make it his destination. As it is his first winter at the hermitage, the monk is slowly adapting by following in the footsteps of the monks who stayed there before him. He repairs the stone walls of the hermitage to prepare for the harsh winter and goes on a hike to explore every corner of Seoryongsan Mountain, an unknown mountain to the monk.
