Tomorrow, a lap of spring flowers will lie at the foot of the Freedom Monument. The country's highest officials will lay their flowers. Hundreds more Latvian patriots, big and small, will bring tulips, daffodils, or even dandelions picked from the meadow "Flowers for Latvia". And all these visitors will be greeted by a bouquet of red, white, and red roses. It was laid by the 97-year-old Mrs. Ausma today at the monument. She was brought to the monument on a medical stretcher, thus fulfilling the old lady's last wish.
