Hey Drummer? How are you? This is the last week [week 51/52] of new material in Daily Drum Exercises and it will be a quick adventure in the #Mozambique style. This is a vigorous Cuban style that has some interesting variations and also some similarities to other Afro-Cuban styles that you may remember. The Mozambique style was developed by Pedro Izquierdo known as Pello el Afrokán in the early 1960s. Izquierdo's composition, “María Caracoles”, was later recorded by Santana on his 1977 album Festival. As with the Songo rhythm, all of this week's patterns are written in 2/2 time signature, so I don't even need to mention the tempo count, right? ???? Explore Independence and Explore New Possibilities on the Drums. ???? As always, here are some Practice Tips: 1️⃣ Start slow and when you feel comfortable, increase the tempo. 2️⃣ It's better to be precise than fast. 3️⃣ Use the metronome to keep in time. ????
