Ne'ma (Faten Hamama) lives with her older sister and her family consisting of her husband Abdel Majeed and their nine children. Abdel Majeed is a drunkard who works on the railway and neglects his family, which suffers from the neglect of his parents and their failure to assume responsibility properly. To get rid of their miserable situation, Abdel Majeed and his wife decide that Ne'ma should accept marriage to the teacher Al-Batawi. Ne'ma rejects him and flees to Mansoura. Meanwhile, Al-Batrawy marries her using forged papers provided by Abdel-Majeed. Ne'ma finds work in Mansoura on Mahmoud Bey's farm, who quickly discovers her skills and good behavior and brings her close to him until he falls in love with her, especially after his separation from his fiancée. His sister opposes the marriage to Ne'ma, but he is not interested in social or cultural differences. Ne'ma returns to tell her sister about Mahmoud Bey's intention to marry her, and she discovers what happened after she fled. But when Mahmoud Bey shows up, the problem escalates and ends with Al-Batrawy being stabbed.
