In this first part of the video series "Converting a motorhome to a lithium battery system", I'm dealing with the simple and easy replacement of the solar charge controller. The Phocos solar charge controller installed as standard cannot charge lithium batteries. For this reason, I looked for an alternative, as Phocos did not respond to my inquiry. I came across the company Victron and its SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 charge controller for 12, 24 and 48 V systems, fully automatic! I bought the charge controller new during a Black Friday promotion on Amazon and saved a few euros. I think I paid around €90. The installation of this charge controller was delayed because our motorhome had water damage. The installation is very easy to do and, in my opinion, can be mastered by any motorhome owner. Since the infrastructure of cables and devices is already in place in our motorhome, I hope that I will be able to switch from AGM to lithium batteries. The video shows in detail how I proceed. The first part of the video worked perfectly and met my expectations.
