#IZH56 #Motorcycle I would like to introduce you to my favorite motorcycle from my garage, IZH 56. History of the restoration of IZH 56 Year of manufacture: 1958 My interest in antiques was inherited from my father, only he collects coins and silver items, but I was drawn to motorcycles, one downside is that unlike coins, a motorcycle takes up much more space. The motorcycle was purchased in 2009 in Kurgansk, Krasnodar Territory, from my grandfather, who was about 80 years old. At that time, the motorcycle served as a roost for chickens outside. The outline of an antique motorcycle was visible through the chicken droppings, but it was almost impossible to see what model or brand it was! In short, my grandfather happily agreed to sell it to me for 7,000 rubles with documents and old numbers, which is rare in our time. When we were standing in line to see the notary, my grandfather told me how he met his grandmother on this motorcycle and how he fell off his motorcycle into the reeds for the first time. The motorcycle, lying on its side in a Gazelle, went to Novorossiysk. The next day, when the motorcycle was washed on the third attempt at a car wash, it became clear that it would be unrealistic to restore it and hear the sound of the motorcycle engine, the euphoria from the purchase disappeared immediately, especially when I proudly showed my purchase to my wife, she said: "and you wasted 7,000 rubles on this crap, you should have bought me a dress instead." I carefully studied the history of this motorcycle, it turned out that this model was one of the first releases with a separate seat and there were not many of them. There may be no more than 15 such motorcycles left, no more than 3 in working condition. In general, after a year of standing in the garage, I was haunted by the idea of restoring it and bringing it to its senses. I saved up a small capital of money and began to look for a master. Quite by chance, after a long search, I found a young guy in Slavyansk who has hands growing from the right place! The restoration lasted about 4 years. The original color was preserved only in one small place, under the seat, in other places it was painted with a brush in green, and there were about 5 layers of paint. The original color of the motorcycle is "sea breeze" or "turquoise". We painted it in this color. As it turned out, the motorcycle had many non-original spare parts installed, side glove compartments from Planet 2, a headlight from Jupiter, a front fender from who knows where, etc., but the heart of the motorcycle was original! After a long search on the Internet and in grandfather's old magazines "Behind the Wheel" of the 60s, in order to find its original appearance and history of the motorcycle, the image of the motorcycle was finally formed. It was time to search for original spare parts for the motorcycle, parts were sent from all over Russia and even Ukraine and Kazakhstan. As it turned out, in Ukraine in Dnepropetrovsk there is a motorcycle market and there is the largest assortment of retro spare parts and more. At this market I spent a decent amount of money, about 800 dollars, and the prices were half as cheap as in Russia. In the workshop the motorcycle was completely disassembled and gradually the process began in reverse. Finally all the necessary spare parts were bought, the engine was assembled, the frame was painted, it seemed that happiness was somewhere very close, but then the biggest problem arose before us - chrome! There are quite a lot of parts on the Izh-56 that were chromed at the factory, and in Russia there is practically no place where you can make high-quality chrome, however, you can’t even make low-quality chrome. It turned out that the prices for it are off the charts - to chrome a small part you need to pay an astronomical amount. I had to wait another half a year to save up money. Well, here is the finish line, the motorcycle is fully equipped with everything necessary and is completely ready for assembly. The motorcycle was released on October 8, 2013. After a short test drive, the motorcycle went on a trailer straight to its permanent place of residence in the garage of Novorossiysk. I go out only on holidays or to various bike shows, because the motorcycle is already 57 years old, and I respect old age. IZH-56 was at a bike show in Sevastopol near Mount Gosfort in the summer of 2014, I went there by car, and in the trailer there was a polished IZH. The queue for the ferry was impressive, but those who went to the bike show on a motorcycle or with a motorcycle were allowed to skip the queue. There was an order! But there was no freebie on the way back and I had to stand for 36 hours! Well, screw it, but there were a lot of impressions! The motorcycle was also released at the annual motorcycle festival in Abrau-Dyurso in 2014, near Novorossiysk and participated in the festive race on May 9, 2015 in a column of motorcyc
