Árpád Tóth, singing and music teacher, conductor and artistic director (leader of the Csíkszerda Community Choir)'s overwhelmingly funny and at the same time uplifting presentation about the power of singing together and its community-shaping role was one of the highlights of the 2017 TEDxDanubia conference. Árpád Tóth (Academy of Music, Kodály Institute in Kecskemét) singing and music teacher (at the Vocational High School of Fine and Applied Arts in Budapest), major (Csíkszerda), artistic director (Night of the Choirs) For him, the practice of singing as a way of being began already at school, where he was always smiled at he hummed - on the street, during breaks, even in his sleep. From there, a straight path led to the Hungarian Radio Children's Choir, and then to the Béla Bartók Conservatory, where he graduated with a degree in music theory and harp. Then came the Academy of Music, where he earned no fewer than three diplomas and a doctorate. After the extremely meaningful, but at the same time, very traditional training, Árpád realized that deep inside he was still the little child he once was: he still only wanted to dissolve in singing, preferably together with as many people as possible. However, for this he had to break a lot of conventions: he broke down a whole series of stereotypes about singing being "cheesy" and turned it into "cool". In this spirit, he created Csíkszerda, the largest community choir in the country. He regularly holds workshops for faculty leaders and music teachers worldwide (Mexico, China, Australia, South Korea). It inspires them to keep the fire in themselves and to spark in others the spark of musicality and singing that once existed in all of us.
