There are around 44,000 prisoners and those in preventive detention in Germany. Around one in three offenders is not in prison for the first time. Sebastian is one of them: he has spent a total of 23 years behind bars - more than half of his life. In order to finance his drug addiction, he repeatedly committed crimes. Now he is doing an apprenticeship in prison so that he has a perspective after his release. Angelo is also a repeat offender. At the age of 25, he is already in prison for the third time. He began his criminal career at a young age. At the age of 15, he was sentenced to his first prison sentence - but he did not come to his senses there. Will his current prison sentence put him back on the right path? Prisoners in preventive detention are locked away for an indefinite period of time. What does everyday life look like for these long-term prisoners? And how does one live with the thought of possibly never being free again?
