Monica Salmaso and André Mehmari Milton (Full Presentation) Milton Nascimento's music is ingrained in the soul of the Brazilian people, and has been the country's soundtrack for decades. His work is so timeless that it leads one to believe that, in a certain way, it has always been present in the streets and forests of Brazil, even before it existed. André Mehmari and Monica Salmaso are releasing 'Milton', by Biscoito Fino, on October 26, when one of the most important Brazilian artists celebrates his 80th birthday. Mônica and André have already toured several Brazilian cities with the show of the same name, but now the project has its definitive record. Partners in music for many years, they got together during the isolation period to record the work 'Quarentena', broadcast on YouTube. The choice of the repertoire happened very naturally, as is usually the case with meetings between the two, who have been partners for over 20 years. As a profound connoisseur of Milton's work, André gave Mônica the freedom to choose the songs she wanted to sing. The only request was to include 'Paixão e fé', a composition by Tavinho Moura and Fernando Brant, immortalized by Bituca. The recording process was also very quick. The album was recorded in a single day, December 14, 2020, at the Monteverdi studio in São Paulo. In addition to the piano, André also plays the glass marimba. Teco Cardoso is the only guest musician, participating in two tracks: in 'A terceira margem do rio' he plays the bass flute; in 'Milagre dos peixes' he plays the soprano sax. The repertoire also includes 'The Moon Turned', 'Nights of the Backlands', 'Missing Panair's Planes', 'Friendly Song', 'Marriage of Blacks', 'Credo' and 'Paula and Bebeto', a quote from 'San Vicente', in addition to the reading of an excerpt from 'The Third Bank of the River', a short story by Guimarães Rosa. Mônica and André do not hide their enthusiasm in presenting this work and being able to participate in the celebration of Milton Nascimento's 80th birthday.
