The Monetary System can be defined as a set of currencies in circulation in a given country. In the United States, the currency in circulation is the Dollar, while Germany uses the Euro and Brazil's monetary system is the Real. During the 20th century, Brazil adopted nine monetary systems, such as the mil réis, the cruzeiro, the cruzeiro novo, the cruzeiro, the cruzado, the cruzado novo, the cruzeiro and the cruzeiro real. After successive monetary changes, Brazil adopted the Real on July 1, 1994. The Real symbol (R$) is formed by two elements. Why do real notes have different sizes? The main reason for issuing notes with different dimensions is to prevent counterfeiting attempts as well as to make it easier for the visually impaired to identify them.
