The Qajar period is one of the most important periods in Iranian history, beginning with the founding of the dynasty by Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar in 1174 AH. Agha Mohammad Khan, by defeating Karim Khan Zand and suppressing other rivals, founded a government that ruled Iran for more than a century. Known for his strict personality and military policies, he tried to keep Iran unified. However, his reign was short-lived and he was assassinated in 1176 AH. After him, Fath Ali Shah Qajar came to power. Fath Ali Shah's long reign was accompanied by wars between Iran and Russia. After Fath Ali Shah, his grandson Mohammad Shah Qajar ascended to the throne. The reign of Mohammad Shah was accompanied by many internal and external challenges. He tried to establish stability in the country through internal reforms and suppression of rebellions. But constant wars and financial problems prevented the realization of his plans.
