The modernization of the railway from Poprad to Vydrník is the first stage of the modernization of the line from Poprad to Spišská Nová Ves. The purpose of the project is to increase the safety, smoothness and speed of the track to 160 km/h. The section is 14 kilometers long and connects to the recently completed line from Lučivná. In the future, the next stage will continue through Spišská Nová Ves to Markušovice. The modernization of this line is one of the largest railway investments in Slovakia. Construction works will cost 369 million euros and will last almost 3 years. In this video, we will look at the entire modernization section just before the start of construction work. In the direction from Vydrník, the track offers one of the best views of the High Tatras.
