We looked at the current state of the Serbian section of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line at Kishegyes, on the soon-to-be-completed Újvidék-Szabadka section. Everything is modern: there is a Latvian viaduct, an elevator and a playground, but there are also serious shortcomings. The locals complain that the truck traffic caused by the construction has destroyed the roads, that they cannot access the new railway stations built in the middle of nowhere, and that the 200-speed trains will not stop at the old ones.
