The event was sponsored by the Mizunami City Board of Education as Mizunami City's 13th Top Athlete Exchange Initiative. Approximately 150 elementary and junior high school students from Mizunami City, as well as Toki City, Tajimi City, Ena City and other areas participated in the kendo class. Teramoto Masashi is a 7th dan kendo instructor and works as a kendo instructor for the Osaka Prefectural Police. Teramoto's major achievements include winning the team championship (twice) and individual championship at the World Kendo Championships, and winning the All Japan Kendo Championships in 2007. Yuki Tsuchitani (4th dan), also of the Osaka Prefectural Police, served as a lecturer at the kendo class, and the kendo club from Reizei Mizunami High School (Inatsu-cho, Mizunami City) also cooperated.
