On 2 March 2004, the Rosetta probe began its journey to an uncharted place. The first space mission to hunt for a comet. To send a part of humanity to an icy relic. We were going to land on a tiny, hypervelocity rock in the middle of space. The most ambitious mission in the history of the European Space Agency (ESA), the Rosetta mission represented the culmination of decades of dreams and hopes. In a journey of ten years and five billion kilometres, Rosetta managed to hunt down comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko to inspect its composition, analyse its water to see if these comets could have brought it to Earth at the dawn of our world, and study the possibility of the existence of organic matter. But the real challenge of the mission was in the landing. Rosetta contained a lander, named Philae, which was to descend to its surface, settle on it and make the most important measurements of that mission classified by many as an impossible dream. It was time to become hunters of those rocks.
