Missing Panair Planes André Mehmari and Monica Salmaso (Official Video) Milton Nascimento's music is ingrained in the soul of the Brazilian people, and has been the country's soundtrack for decades. His work is so timeless that it leads one to believe that, in a certain way, it has always been present in the streets and forests of Brazil, even before it existed. André Mehmari and Monica Salmaso are releasing 'Milton' together on Biscoito Fino, on October 26, when one of the most important Brazilian artists celebrates his 80th birthday. Mônica and André have already toured several Brazilian cities with the show of the same name, but now the project has its definitive record. Partners in music for many years, they got together during the isolation period to record the work 'Quarentena', which is broadcast on YouTube. The choice of the repertoire happened very naturally, as is usually the case with meetings between the two, who have been partners for over 20 years. As a profound connoisseur of Milton's work, André gave Mônica the freedom to choose the songs she wanted to sing. The only request was to include 'Paixão e fé', a composition by Tavinho Moura and Fernando Brant, immortalized by Bituca. The recording process was also very quick. The album was recorded in a single day, December 14, 2020, at the Monteverdi studio in São Paulo. In addition to the piano, André also plays the glass marimba. Teco Cardoso is the only guest musician, participating in two tracks: in 'A terceira margem do rio' he plays the bass flute; in 'Milagre dos peixes' he plays the soprano sax. The repertoire also includes 'The Moon Turned', 'Nights of the Backlands', 'Missing Panair's Planes', 'Friendly Song', 'Marriage of Blacks', 'Credo' and 'Paula and Bebeto', a quote from 'San Vicente', in addition to the reading of an excerpt from 'The Third Bank of the River', a short story by Guimarães Rosa. Mônica and André do not hide their enthusiasm in presenting this work and being able to participate in the celebration of Milton Nascimento's 80th birthday. Lyrics: There came the tram going up and down the hill And the driver stopped the orchestra for a minute To tell me stories about the Italian campaign And the shot he didn't get I got a huge scare on the wings of Panair I discovered that things change And that everything is small on the wings of Panair And there goes the boy cursing priests and stones And there goes the boy licking rotten delight And there goes the boy, lord of all fruit Without any sin without fear Fear in my life was born much later I discovered That the weapon is what the memory keeps From the times of Panair Nothing sad exists that is not forgotten Someone insists and speaks to the heart Everything sad exists and is not forgotten Someone insists and hurts the heart Nothing new exists on this planet That is not talked about here at the bar table And that fight and that hunger for football And that tango and that lady of the night And that stain and the hidden speech That died in the back yard I died every day of the days that I lived The beer that I drink today is only in memory Of the times of Panair The first Coca-Cola was I remember it well now On the wings of Panair The greatest of wonders was flying over the world On the wings of Panair Around this table old and young Remembering what once was Around this table there are others talking just the same Around these tables there is the street Living its normal life Around this street a city dreaming its metals Around the city
