Miriam Akavia, originally Matylda Weinfeld (born 1927 in Kraków, died January 16, 2015) – Israeli writer and translator, Holocaust survivor, honorary chairwoman of the Israel-Poland Society. As chairwoman of the Polish-Israeli Friendship Society, she organized meetings of young people from both countries, and also fought against stereotypes dividing Poles and Jews. For her work for Polish-Israeli rapprochement, she received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
