Mat weaving requires more preparation and greater preparedness than spinning, which is also why we know of fewer settlements where people “specialized” in mat weaving than there were places where mat weaving was practiced. In the Hungarian village of Tacs in Biszterce-Naszód County in Transylvania, many people still engage in mat knitting today, knitting bags and baskets in the spiral technique – flour containers, bread baskets, children’s baskets. The film follows the entire process of mat work. Director: Mari Nagy and István Vidák, Masters of Folk Art Cinematographer-editor: Attila Zsigmond 2016
