Starting this Thursday, the 14th, the city of Rio de Janeiro will host the G20 Social, a meeting organized by the Brazilian government a few days before the G20 summit of heads of state. The goal is to expand the dialogue between government leaders and civil society on topics such as women, the world of work, business, global governance, the environment and the role of non-governmental organizations. According to Márcio Macêdo, Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic and coordinator of the event, some topics discussed at the meeting may be included in the final declaration of the G20 summit leaders, such as the taxation of large fortunes and financing for the fight against hunger and climate change. The statement was made to reporter André Barrocal, from CartaCapital, during a press conference organized by the Barão de Itararé Alternative Media Studies Center.
