On May 12th, from 2pm to 3pm, we will be holding a YouTube LIVE on the theme of how to deal with pain. We received the following question about last week's YouTube LIVE. ーーーーーーーーーーーMasao SenseiI always read your email newsletters, LINE, books, videos, and other content. What Masao Sensei says always resonates with me. I learn a lot from it. I have a question I would like you to cover in the next YouTube Live. I have a gastrointestinal disorder. My stomach hurts and I can't eat much, so I've lost a lot of weight. I've been getting various treatments for my gastrointestinal disorder. But it's been almost six years and I'm still not getting better. I've also been getting treatment for mental illness, but I'm still not getting better. I'm mentally exhausted and want to be free from this pain. In mindfulness, it says that you should not close your heart and feel unpleasant things, but when you experience something painful, it feels like you're being hit with a body blow all the time, and it's exhausting. Masao Sensei said that to relieve physical pain, you need to keep your distance and not judge. I have been told in previous e-mails that not judging means understanding, forgiving and accepting, and I try to keep that in mind. However, continuing to feel something painful feels like being hit with a body blow all the time, and it is painful. Instead of integrating with it, I label it as "I am feeling pain," but if I continue to feel something painful, I become depressed. Regarding depression, even if I distance myself from it and don't judge it, I will feel pain if I continue to feel it. On the other hand, trying not to feel pain is also an avoidance behavior. I am well aware that I will eventually have to feel pain. But it is also painful to continue to experience and feel something painful. What should I do if pain or depression is transmitted to the observer (my true self) even if I label it and watch it from a distance without judging it? I think this can be applied not only to stomach pains, but also to headaches, high fevers, and mental illnesses. I think it is a topic that not only I, but other viewers, would like to know about. I would appreciate it if you could take it up in the next YouTube live. ーーーーーーーーー※ I introduced it with the person's permission. "I wish all living things happiness, so I would be happy if it can be useful to others," he said, so I will explain it in this live.
