The Monte Grappa Military Shrine is one of the main military ossuaries of the First World War. At 1,776 metres above sea level, it is located on the summit of Monte Grappa, between the provinces of Treviso and Vicenza. It was designed by the architect Giovanni Greppi and the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni. The construction was built between 1932 and 1935 and consists of a series of semi-circular steps that develop along the slope and lead to the summit. The characterising element is the columbarium motif used for the burial niches intended to house the bodies of the fallen. At the summit is a small church dedicated to the Madonna del Grappa, Virgin Help of Christians and symbol of the Christian faith.
