Today the court issued a decision on the case of a military commissar who, having been accused of drunk driving, began to call prosecution witnesses to the military registration and enlistment office and threaten them with mobilization. We reported on this case in detail on November 7, but I will briefly remind you of the gist. It all happened in the summer, in Semenov, as the prosecution witnesses claim - at night they were cut off on the road by a car without headlights. They began to complain about the emergency situation that had arisen, a drunk man got out of the car, whom they later identified as the district commissioner Yuri Vavilov. The police officers who arrived at the call collected the witnesses' statements, wrote them down and took the commissioner for a medical examination, which he refused to undergo. And then strange things began - the traffic police officers tore up the witnesses' statements and threw them away, this fact was recorded and confirmed in court. And the military commissar began to call the young people themselves and even their parents to the military registration and enlistment office with subpoenas. He promised one young man - unfit for service - that he would register him in the mobilization reserve, but if he changed his testimony in favor of the commissar, then the summons could be torn up and everything could be forgotten. He threatened another that he would be transferred from a good military unit to another place if he did not give the necessary testimony. The young men recorded these conversations with threats, contacted law enforcement agencies with them and published them on our program. The military commissar himself stated in an interview with our program that the young men then - in the summer, slandered him for the sake of a joke and that this is exactly the testimony he forced them to give in court. And now, today the court has made a decision. #nizhnynovgorod #by the way
