Manuela and Paca relive their years of clandestine activism, when they first joined illegal political parties, met to read Simone de Beauvoir and organised national reconciliation dinners attended by reds and fascists. They remember the fun, but they also remember the oppression during the last years of the dictatorship, from the torture that took place in the cells of Puerta del Sol (just below where the clock chimes today) to the strong police repression, with experiences such as the murder of their friend Enrique Ruano under police arrest. They talk about the extremely harsh state of emergency in 1969 that, for three months, deprived them of all freedom and rights. And how they confronted the system by organising all kinds of actions, such as the silence strike at the Public Order Court. #lasabogadas #podcast Episodes available on #rtveplay: https://www.rtve.es/play/videos/las-a...
