In a record episode of MIDMID, Sam and Evert welcome none other than record international Jan Vertonghen into the studio! Together, they talk about the defender's highs and lows, on and off the field, in a candid conversation. After his youth years at VK Tielrode and Germinal Beerschot, Vertonghen was noticed by Ajax. As a result, he moved to Amsterdam at the age of sixteen to live with a host family. Nine years, two titles and a goal that he (not so) accidentally scored later, Super Jan made the switch to Tottenham Hotspur. With the London club, he reached the final of the Champions League in 2019. After a stopover in sunny Portugal, he made the most difficult choice of his career and signed with RSC Anderlecht. He had a disastrous season with the purple-white, although things went a lot better this season. It only made the choice of whether or not to extend his expiring contract even more difficult.
