With thanks to Thierry Pauwels for the invitation: • Lange Jan, Middelburg, ringing bells In 1715 Jan Albert de Grave and Claes Noorden cast a carillon of 40 or 43(?) bells for the abbey tower. This carillon was lost during the bombing of Middelburg in 1940. The bourdon also crashed down at the time, but survived the fall. In 1955 bell founder Van Bergen from Heiligerlee installed 48 new carillon bells (in total the carillon has 49 bells). In 1984 the 25 smallest bells were replaced by Eijsbouts. Thanks to Mr. Emile Goedbloed for the practical arrangements, to Mr. Johan de Koning for ringing the bells and to Mr. Johan Padmos for the accompaniment in the tower.
