In July 1943, the Germans murdered defenseless residents of the Świętokrzyskie village of Michniów, even killing infants a few days old. Today, a magnificent mausoleum and a center of remembrance of all residents of Polish villages who were murdered during the war simply because they were Poles stands on the site of this crime. The mausoleum shows the scale of the genocide committed by the Third Reich, but also by the Soviets and Ukrainian nationalists from the OUN-UPA.
