Article about Mercosur: https://geofra.com.br/mercosul-import... Follow our channel The Southern Common Market (Mercosur) is an economic bloc founded in 1991, with the objective of promoting economic and political integration among its member countries. Its founders were Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, later including Venezuela (suspended since 2016) and Bolivia, which is in the process of full membership. The bloc seeks to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers, facilitate trade and promote cooperation among its members. In addition, it aims to harmonize economic policies and strengthen competitiveness in the global scenario. In Mercosur, there is free circulation of goods, services and productive factors, although there are still challenges in areas such as external tariffs and individual agreements. The main bodies include the Common Market Council (CMC) and the Common Market Group (GMC), responsible for decision-making and policy implementation. The bloc also promotes democracy, environmental protection and human rights, reinforcing its political dimension. Despite progress, Mercosur faces challenges such as disagreements between member countries, dependence on commodities and difficulties in reaching trade agreements with major powers. However, it continues to be an important instrument for regional integration and cooperation among its members, as well as a bridge for the international insertion of South America.
