Almost four decades after its launch, Mercedes' most famous off-roader is once again receiving a substantial upgrade at every level. We sent Gerard Farré to Carcassone to test the latest evolution of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which arrives almost coinciding with its 40th anniversary. Farre's passion for the Geländewagen is well known, but he himself could not have imagined how far the improvements could go on this shoebox with wheels with almost 600 hp. The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 is fitted with a 4-litre V8 engine with 585 hp that replaces the old 5.5-litre engine with 571 hp.
