Almost a year ago, Nico was released from #forensics. Nico was housed in the facility for mentally ill criminals for several years because he robbed a pharmacy under the influence of acute psychosis. In court, he was declared not guilty and was therefore not sentenced to prison - but was treated in forensic psychiatry. Now the 26-year-old lives in a supervised residential home for people with mental illnesses, wants to leave forensics behind and start a new phase of his life. Frank met Nico shortly before his release in September 2020. At that time, Nico was not allowed to leave the clinic for mentally ill people, which is why he is now all the happier to be able to organize his own day and go outside whenever he wants. Nico is still a patient in the correctional facility, but is now on leave and has decided with his carers to move into a supervised residential home for the time being. After five years in forensic psychiatry, Nico has respect for freedom and is now learning to find a structure for his new everyday life. Nico has clearly felt one thing: While the world stood still for him in forensic psychiatry for five years, it kept turning for everyone else - without him. During Frank's last visit, Nico had already told him how much he would like to work with animals one day. That's why Frank wants to surprise the passionate Yu-Gi-Oh! card collector and take him to a sanctuary. Nico is particularly looking forward to the raccoons - will he really meet the animals? And what does the future look like for Nico after forensics? Frank wants to find out today. You can watch our first film with Nico again here: • What happens to mentally ill people... Why do we let animals suffer? Do we drink too much? Or: What does porn do to us? My team and I are interested in questions that have a direct impact on our lives, but also in topics that are important to all of us and are often only discussed superficially. We look for answers to these questions week after week - openly, honestly and independently. We don't meet experts to do this, we are there: at the slaughterhouse, at the swingers' party, while proselytizing in the pedestrian zone. And because we want to get to know as many perspectives as possible in our search, we always spend several weeks thinking about a question. In the end, we want to give an answer, even if that isn't easy for us. With every video - but especially in the discussions with you - we get a little closer to an answer to the big, tricky questions.
