Hike and mountain bike tour to Mohnenfluh in Lech Zürs am Arlberg: Traveling through high alpine landscapes with an e-bike, with a stop at Butzensee. Have you ever done a hike & bike tour? Or do you prefer classic hiking? Feel free to write me your opinion in the comments. Maybe you have cool tour suggestions for nice combination tours. We start in Lech am Arlberg. The Lech rushes behind me. The sun is shining above me. It promises to be a good day. Today's goal is Mohnenfluh. To make the first few meters of altitude a little easier for us, we borrow two e-bikes. This way we go up a little faster than if we were hiking the whole way. Everything is really easy up to Oberlech. We cycle comfortably up a little-used, tarred road and are already amazed by the surrounding mountains. While there are lush green meadows with colorful flowers to our left and right, there is still snow on the peaks all around. Just behind the town we take our first break at the Skyspace. This is a dome in which you can marvel at the artistic lighting at dusk both in the morning and in the evening. During the day it is so bright that we can't see any of it. But the blue sky lures us back outside. From now on we continue along a forest road. Gravel makes pedalling more difficult. Especially if you are not used to cycling and don't know how the bike reacts to stones. But we master the climb towards Kriegeralpe and beyond very confidently. Until Felix's battery gives out. You probably shouldn't ride in turbo mode the whole time ;) Luckily the time has now come when we have to park the bike anyway. We continue on foot. We make a small loop to the Butzensee, which turns out to be very worthwhile. Because the Butzensee is embedded in a gigantic mountain world and shines turquoise blue in the sun. A few ice floes are still floating in it. But that just makes the lake look even better. After a short break, the final ascent to the summit is ahead. We wind our way up through a steep scree field in serpentines. Sometimes you have to look carefully so as not to miss any markers. If you follow the numerous markers, the scree field should not be difficult, but if you run cross-country, it can become impassable. The last few meters are sweaty, but then we finally reach the summit. While it was summery warm in the valley, an icy wind is blowing up above. I throw on a jacket and enjoy the view. We have the summit cross all to ourselves. Zugspitze, Großer Widderstein, Walmendinger Horn, Hoher Ifen and the Swiss Alps with Piz Bernina come into view. Our gaze wanders further towards Lech, which lies below us in the valley. Omeshorn, Valluga and Rüfikopf tower all around us. We now have to go back down to the Zugertal. But it's good that we're here with our bikes. That way we can roll down the last stretch in a relaxed manner.
