The Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels had the pleasure of hosting Vinicio Capossela, a true institution of Italian singer-songwriters, and the emerging artist Gobbi to explore, together with the public, some brilliant facets of singer-songwriter music. The event, consisting of short musical moments, readings, videos and dialogues with the artists, is moderated by the Director of the Institute, Professor Pierre Di Toro, and by the journalist of the Huffington Post Angela Mauro. Initial greetings by the Ambassador of Italy to the Kingdom of Belgium HE Federica Favi and the Director of the Institute Prof. Pierre Di Toro. Vinicio Capossela is an all-round artist, singer-songwriter, poet, writer, multi-instrumentalist and incredible entertainer. He was born in Hannover, to parents of Irpinia origin, but then moved to Emilia-Romagna, where he grew up as a man and a musician. He made his debut on the record market with “All'una e trentacinque” (1990), winning the Targa Tenco for first works. His success continued with “Modì” (1991) and “Camera a sud” (1994), and then continued with a turning point album: “Il ballo di San Vito” (1996). Capossela established himself as one of the main exponents of Italian singer-songwriter music, thanks to a unique style, with notes that straddle jazz and folk. To date, the artist has released a total of 16 albums: 11 studio, three live and two collections. He has won four Targhe Tenco and a Tenco Award for his career; moreover, twice – in 2006 and 2017 – the Lumezia Award, an award for the musical-literary valorization of Italian songs. Among his albums, in addition to those already mentioned: “Canzoni a manovella” (2000); “L'indispensabile” (2003); “Ovunque proteggi” (2006); “Da solo” (2008); “Solo show alive” (2009); “The story-faced man” (2010); “Marinai, prophets and whales” (2011); “Rebetiko gymnastas” (2012); “Canzoni della Cupa” (2016); “Camino y hablo solo” (with Melingo, 2020); “Thirteen urgent songs” (2023); “Sciusten feste n.1965” (2024). Giuseppe Gobbi, aka Gobbi, is a young singer-songwriter from Cesena. He began to enter the Milanese music scene in 2017, gaining acclaim thanks to his innocent and fun provocative writing, as a perfect light-hearted singer-songwriter. Among his singles we can mention “Una tenda” (2022), “Mattoni” (2023), “Alveare” (2023) and “Pelle di peperone” (2024).
