Luís Correia is a municipality in northeastern Brazil, located in the northern part of the state of Piauí. It is one of the four coastal municipalities in Piauí, and also one of the most visited by tourists and beachgoers throughout the year. During festive periods, the city receives five times more visitors than its total population. This happens mainly during New Year's Eve and Carnival, which are regional celebrations. In the state of Piauí, Luís Correia is the municipality with the longest coastline, approximately 46 km, more than half of the coastal area of the entire state. The municipality is home to Porto de Amarração, the only one in Piauí, founded in 1820 at the mouth of the Igarassu River by the government of Ceará. Main tourist attractions in Luís Correia: Atalaia Beach One of the best-known and most visited beaches in the municipality, closest to the city center and the Port of Luís Correia. It has strong winds and has tents recently standardized by the state government. Coqueiro Beach It has beautiful landscapes dominated by coconut trees, and where a fishing village is located. It has calm winds and is 10.7 km east of the city center. Sobradinho, Santana, São Bento and Alagadiço lagoons. Maramar Beach A paradisiacal beach away from urban centers, suitable for swimming and kitesurfing, attracting tourists from all regions of Brazil and the world, many of whom are kitesurfers. The beach has a complete lodging structure, with inns and resorts. The gastronomy is also one of the attractions of this beach, which is only 25.9 km from the center of Luis Correia.
