This week, Carine Aigon invites you to meet some of those who bring heritage back to life. From the Roman aqueducts to the Château des Baux or Glanum, the Alpilles chain unrolls its ribbon of curiosities over 30 km. The Alpilles, an island, a golden triangle shaped by time… and by man. 4000 years of history of our civilization have indeed left traces that Chroniques Méditerranéennes invites you to explore. Archaeologist Alain GENOT tells you about the site of Barbegal and its two Roman aqueducts, water carriers in their time and rich in so many secrets… Other secrets, those of the Hôtel de Sade and Glanum. With Lionel IZAC, administrator for National Monuments, we penetrate to the depths of the Hôtel de Sade, in the reserves which contain objects not yet identified, discovered on the site of Glanum. Leaning over these remarkable remains, one almost expects to hear the sounds of life past, the life of our ancestors. One guesses. One imagines… Nestled in its limestone setting, the Château des Baux-de-Provence, built in the 12th century by a great Provençal family, dominates the Crau plain. Behind its high jagged walls, it shelters one of the most touristic villages in Provence. Patrick Galdier, the official guide of the château, knows, down to the smallest detail, what makes this exceptional site special. In his gaze, the emotions of the child he was seem to pass, at the evocation of a time when the lords of Provence, rebels and warriors, reigned over more than 70 strongholds called the Baussenques lands. But what would a visit to a medieval château be without the evocation of the tools of war and defense? Patricia Fuster will take us back in time with her Alix workshops which offer visitors all sorts of medieval activities. On the program: catapult or rather trebuchet shots!
