Instead of the OEM 5-speed gearbox and 4.10:1 Torsen differential, I adapted the BMW 6-speed gearbox and the LSD differential from the E30 M5. My aim in doing this was to preserve the PPF, which is the backbone of the car. The only way to do such a project without breaking the spirit of Mazda was to integrate the PPF, which played a big role in the original design, into the new setup.
