Szalacs in Ermellék was once famous for its wicker and carved chairs. In 1940, forty families still practiced the ancient craft in the village, today Imre Kovács is the only living representative of the profession. The 80-year-old craftsman made at least 800 chairs during his lifetime, using only hand tools. Local historian Gáspár Kéri preserved the folk art values of the locality for posterity by building country houses. Edited by István Vidák and Mari Nagy.
