Plenum of the Protestant Thomas Church in Hofheim am Taunus-Marxheim for the service on Pentecost Sunday. Disposition: g¹ a¹ c² d² e² f² g², 1964 Gebr. Rincker, Sinn Partly due to their proximity to Mainz, most of the towns in the Vordertaunus were re-Catholicized after the Reformation, including Hofheim. It was not until 1900 that the Protestants built their own church, the Johannes Church. After the Second World War, a new development was built between Hofheim and Alt-Marxheim, which today connects the two towns. The Thomas Congregation was founded here in 1961. A year later, the parish hall was built, and in 1965 the church, whose 38 m high tower is a striking feature. Two years later, the Weigle organ was put into operation. The altar sculpture of the crucifixion scene was created by Prof. Hanns-Wolf Spemann in 1970. The church windows are the most recent and were designed in 2002 by the Nuremberg artist Joachim Dorn. The settlement also includes the Catholic Church of St. Bonifatius (1969), whose bells c¹ d¹ e¹ g¹ are coordinated with the Thomas Church (see last photo), and the church of the Good Shepherd Monastery (1960). The Church of St. George (1845) is located a little further away in the old town center. A big thank you goes to the sexton for switching on the church in a relaxed manner, contrary to custom!
