Martyn Lloyd Jones speaking on The Supreme Benefit of Christ's Death! WHO WAS MARTYN LLOYD JONES David Martyn Lloyd-Jones (20 December 1899 – 1 March 1981) was a Welsh-born Calvinist Protestant theologian who was influential in the Reformed wing of the British evangelical movement in the 20th century. For nearly 30 years he was the minister of Westminster Chapel in London. Lloyd-Jones was a strong opponent of the liberal theology that had become a part of many Christian denominations, regarding it as an aberration. He disagreed with the broad approach of the Church and encouraged evangelical Christians (especially Anglicans) to leave their existing denominations, considering that true Christian fellowship was only possible between those who shared common convictions about the nature of faith. After leaving medicine in 1927, he became the minister of a Presbyterian Church in Aberavon, South Wales, and is considered one of the greatest Protestant preachers of the 20th century.
