The lecture from the series SHAKESPEARE AND HIS TIME, presented by the Municipal Library in Prague, in cooperation with the British Council and Adeto, zs, in the large hall of the Central Library on 14 December 2023, is this time on the topic: Unknown Shakespeare: Hamlet and Professor Martin Hilský this time he will take a look in an unconventional and festive way. The central event of the play Hamlet is the murder of the king - all events and actions of Prince Hamlet are based on it. This family and political tragedy is also a thrilling detective story. The staged reconstruction of the murder (through a play within a play) reveals the murderer, but Hamlet is unable to avenge his father. It is a game full of eternal questioning and doubt, a game about a crime committed in the past and the impossibility of correcting that crime, a game of many intertwining stories that has been returning to world stages for over 400 years. This is evidenced by the newly prepared production at the National Theatre. Lecturer: prof. PhDr. Martin Hilský, CSc., top Englishman, translator, essayist, professor of English literature, who translated Shakespeare's entire work into Czech. He is the holder of a number of important awards - e.g. Order of the British Empire, State Prize for Translation, Czech Head, Vojtěch Náprstek Medal and many others. He has always followed this ethical principle and has a firm will to keep it that way, not only out of respect for the presenters and performers, who are the main creators of the content, but also out of a higher moral principle. Until recently, the channel operated in this way was hosted on YouTube without added ads, and when this policy changed, I at least hoped that if the profit generated in this way was attributed only to a third party, i.e. the administrator / owner of this medium, the amount of unintentionally uploaded content would be at a reasonable and acceptable level . Unfortunately, this is not the case, and I'm afraid that no distinction is even made between paid and non-paid channels. So far I don't even know of any way to avoid embedded ads in any acceptable way or at least reduce them to an acceptable level. I definitely don't want to support this paradigm, that's why I don't even encourage you to subscribe to a service, e.g. YouTube Premium (CZK 179 / month), which allows you to watch videos without ads. If anyone can think of a reasonable solution, I would be very happy for any advice, e.g. to the email listed in the LLionTV end log of most of this creator's videos.
