"If love lives by music, play on," says Orsino at the beginning of this most musical of Shakespeare's comedies. It is associated with the upside-down world of medieval and renaissance feasts of fools. The excellent jester Feste presides over all this festive madness. However, other characters also seem to help him - but they are mostly crazy for reasons connected with love. After a series of confusions, misunderstandings, ambiguous situations, traps and manipulations, the game ends with the happy reunion of the twins, Viola and Sebastian, who were separated years ago. What will their weddings be like? And how will the Puritan Malvolio fare? Lectured by prof. PhDr. Martin Hilský, CSc Recording of a lecture delivered on April 21, 2022 in the Municipal Library in Prague.
