Prototype: The class 218 locomotives are the most recently developed member of the V-160 locomotive family. It combines the developments of the V 160 to V 169 series (later 215 to 219), which have many similarities. The 218 adopted the electric train heating from the class 217, and the 1840 kW engine (2500 hp) from the class 215 prototypes, which made an auxiliary diesel engine to operate the heating generator superfluous. The electric train heating and push-pull control make the class 218 a universally usable locomotive. The 2500 to 2800 hp B'B' locomotives reach 140 km/h and were used in both passenger and freight train service. Model: With mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions. Controlled high-performance drive with flywheel installed centrally. All four axles powered. Traction tires. Triple headlights and two red tail lights change depending on the direction of travel, in conventional operation, can be switched on digitally.
