Mark Junglas is a man of conviction! Eating meat, yes, but only if the animals had a good, species-appropriate life - and a stress-free death. The trained butcher was disgusted by conventional factory farming from an early age: When Mark had to slaughter a calf at the age of 16, it was a terrible experience that helped to establish his commitment to animal welfare. Mark is leaving the conventional meat industry. Three years ago, the 35-year-old took over the management of a state-of-the-art organic farm with over 100 cattle that he keeps in a species-appropriate manner - with his own slaughterhouse and sales department. Mark Junglas is supposed to get the farm out of the red and hold its own against the cheap meat competition. Even if animal welfare is very much on trend, it is no easy undertaking! Because only a few people are willing to pay more for organic meat. Mark has many ideas to boost sales: He experiments with self-created meat dishes and tries to win over new nutrition-conscious customers via social media channels and marketing. People up close and personal accompanied Mark for almost a year.
