Mariachi Uclatlán – “Robinhood of El Dorado,” Part 1. The MGM film “Robinhood of El Dorado” (1936) is based on a 1932 novel by Walter Noble Burns called “The Robinhood of El Dorado: The Saga of Joaquin Murrieta, Famous Outlaw of California's Age of Gold.” The music is by Herbert Stothart, a very famous Hollywood composer. We were hired by his son, Herbert Stothart, Jr., who had inherited the piano scores for his father's film music. It was from the piano score that Juan Manuel Cortés made the arrangement for mariachi, to which we added two cellos and a French horn.
