Script/Director: Alois Döring Blank weapons are called swords, sabres or rapiers. The film vividly documents the process of sword production at home and in the factory. The blade is forged by the free-form blacksmith Eberhard Pfaffenhoff in his forge in the Eschbach valley. The sword sharpener Willi Ulrich takes care of the grinding on the large stone and on the Pliestbocks. Then the nickel plating takes place at the WKC company. This time the finished blade gets its handle in the Hörster blade factory. The WKC company's model room has a colorful range of edged weapons. The customer base is just as diverse - from local fraternities to interested parties in South America. ▬ Order on DVD ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ This film documentation is also available on DVD (signature H 88). We are now the only scientists in Germany to use the medium of film specifically for research and presentation. The approximately 260 film productions created over the past decades are irreplaceable documents of lost knowledge from agriculture, crafts, industrial work and the diverse regional customs. Today we use the medium of film primarily to document current processes of change and to accompany people in the Rhineland in their lives. In doing so, we create films on intercultural phenomena and problems, on changes in the world of work, on new forms of social coexistence and on dealing with rituals, customs and traditions.
