Manoel Lisboa, from Alagoas, was born on February 21, 1944 and was assassinated by the Military Dictatorship on September 4, 1973, after being arrested and brutally tortured by DOI-CODI, in an operation led by delegate Sergio Paranhos Fleury. He began his political life at a very young age, in the Grêmio do Colégio Lyceu Alagoano, and was accepted into the medical course at UFAL, but due to his political activities against the Dictatorship he was expelled from the University and had to live clandestinely. In 1966, together with Valmir Costa, Amaro Luiz de Carvalho, Ricardo Zarattini and Selma Bandeira, he founded the Revolutionary Communist Party – PCR. The documentary aims to rescue the story of this revolutionary from Alagoas, who, like other great patriots, gave his life to end the Military Dictatorship, for freedom and socialism. It presents the testimonies of historical activists, such as Edval Nunes Cajá, who is president of the Manoel Lisboa Cultural Center, Amelinha Teles, who serves on the Commission of Relatives and Friends of Those Disappeared by the Dictatorship, and Anacleto Julião, son of Francisco Julião, founder of the Peasant Leagues. The film also features the participation of people who lived with Manoel Lisboa and activists of the Revolutionary Communist Party, a party founded by Manoel Lisboa during the military dictatorship and which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, as well as historians and activists from various social movements.
