This is the story of Mamadou N'Diaye, originally from Senegal, who settled in Roubaix in the 1930s. Born in a small African village, he traveled the world before becoming a figure in the North and a pioneer of African immigration. After boxing, it was through his work as a chiropractor that Mamadou became famous. In his practice, set up since the early 1950s in the working-class district of Pile, he treated and restored thousands of patients, including many Flemish Belgians who did not hesitate to cross the border to be manipulated by Mamadou. He also left behind two daughters whom he did not recognize and who are now trying to understand their own story through the testimonies of those who knew Mamadou. “Mamadou de Roubaix”, a film by François Cauwel and Renaud Lavergne based on an original idea by Renaud Lavergne.
