Using hammers, wedges and hoists, the stonemasons remove the blocks from the rock and work the surfaces of the grindstone. ▬ Information about us ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History We have been recording everyday life in the Rhineland in moving images for almost five decades. We are now the only scientists in Germany to use the medium of film specifically for research and presentation. The approximately 260 film productions created over the past decades are irreplaceable documents of lost knowledge from agriculture, crafts, industrial work and the diverse regional customs. Today we use the medium of film primarily to document current processes of change and to accompany people in the Rhineland in their lives. In doing so, we create films on intercultural phenomena and problems, on changes in the world of work, on new forms of social coexistence and on dealing with rituals, customs and traditions. All film documentaries from the LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History are also available on DVD.
